10 Minutes to Recipe Software Shop’NCook

This video shows how easy it is to organize your recipes with Shop’NCook, as well as incorporate them in your meal plans and shopping lists effortlessly.

With little more effort than copy & paste and a few clicks, you get an accurate nutritional analysis, cost analysis, a meal plan and a corresponding shopping list that you can send to your phone with a click.

Here is what the video covers:

  • How to add a recipe
  • How to link ingredients to the database of grocery items or add new ingredients
  • How to import nutritional information from the USDA database
  • How to analyze the nutritional content of a recipe and a menu.
  • How to cost out a recipe and a menu. This is only covered superficially, an in-depth video follows.
  • How to create a meal plan for several days
  • How to make a shopping list from your recipes or from your meal plan
  • How to send the shopping list to the Direct Access database to access it from Shop’NCook Lite app.

Note that some features are not in all the editions of Shop’NCook. The costing features are only in the Pro edition of Shop’NCook and the meal planning features are only in the Menu and Pro editions.

    Hi Mathilde

Thank you for the new video, it looks great and I can’t wait to try it out.
I was excited to find out about the costing side and I understand this comes out in the next video. Is there anyway that I can learn that now? Will you be able to explain it in an email? I need this feature for business purposes.
    Kind Regards
    Nesta

      Nesta,

There are several resources available on recipe costing. First the recipe costing section of the user’s manual. It is very concise, but if you follow the hyperlinks on the page, it should give you all the information you need.

There is also a step-by-step tutorial on recipe costing. Unfortunately, it is not up-to-date – it was made for the previous version of Shop’NCook, but the principle stays the same. The main difference is that you can now click on the magic wand button next to the ingredients in color on the Costing tab of your recipes and the software guides you.

If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

    Mathilde,

Is it possible to put the nutritional information into the FDA label so I can put it on my product label?

    Thanks,
    Kit

3/18/12 Sunday PM I just downloaded I hope was the free download. How can I be sure that I downloaded the right one? Also, I think I’ve signed up for more than one subscription. I only need one. Thanks! I’m anxious to try this.

      Jane,
It seems that you signed for the trial of Shop’NCook Pro and of Shop’NCook Menu. If you need the costing functions, you should try Shop’NCook Pro, otherwise Shop’NCook Menu. See here for a comparison of the different editions of Shop’NCook.
If you have subscribed to both newsletters, you can unsubscribe of the one you don’t want by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the next one you receive.

I am looking at purchasing this software. I was wondering if it will allow me to input my own inventory from my pantry? I was thinking of it as a grocery store from my home? I need something that will allow me to input my pantry items and draw from that then create a list that would show me what I needed from the other grocery store.
This would be an amazing feature if one could input their pantry items and it track the pantry item.

I am using this software to generate Nutrition Facts label but it missing Cabohydrate under the Tage of “Nutrition”. I send inquiring of Tech Support, only email back link to their common Q & A, no real person can give me solutions. I wonder if I purchase this software will be helpless!

    • Mathilde says:

      Stanley,
Sorry, I don’t usually reply to customer enquiries during the week-end, but you must have received a reply by now.

You may have to scroll the Nutrition screen to see the break-down of the carbohydrate per ingredient. If you don’t, you may have disabled carb in the preferences. To fix it, open the Nutrition tab of the Preferences and move carbohydrate to the table of enabled nutrients. You can choose there among 56 nutrients to display.

I’m sorry, but I wish the production of the video was done differently. I am 65 years old and the background music is so loud . . . and the person speaking has such a strong accent and speaks at such a low volume that it made me not want to watch the whole thing. So, then, it made me wonder—since this wasn’t produced efficiently, is the software efficient in itself? You know the old saying, “You never get a second chance to make a first good impression.”

    • Mathilde says:

Rish, I am sorry you have problems with the sound. I will made sure that the music is less loud on my next videos. I cannot help my terrible French accent, but I have added subtitles to all my videos. You just have to click on the cc below the video to display them. I hope it helps!
