CostingThe costing functions allow you to estimate the cost of a shopping list, a recipe or a menu. The cost of the grocery items can be input by editing the database of items. You have also the option to import existing cost data.You can access several functions related to costing in the Costing menu of the Shopping List panel. You can maintain several sets of cost data for each of your suppliers by saving them with the function "Export Cost Data" and importing when needed. Before importing a new cost database, save the existing one by exporting it to a file and clear the data with the function "Clear Cost Data". If you don't clear the data, only the cost data specified in the import file will be updated and the other data will not be modified. This feature can be useful if you want to merge the cost data from several files. The exported data files are in tab-delimited format that you can import and edit in Excel or a similar software. The numbers in the id column are for internal reference to the item in the item database and should not be modified. When importing the database, if the name of an item in the file and in the database do not match, the corresponding cost data will not be imported. Cost window and color codeWhen you click on the costing function of the shopping list, recipe or menu panel, a window opens with the cost for each ingredients. When the software cannot compute the cost of an ingredient, it displays it in color. The meaning of the colors is as follow:
