Sending your grocery list to your phone: e-mail settings | Shop'NCook

Sending your grocery list to your phone: e-mail settings

As a follow up to yesterday’s post on sending your grocery lists to your mobile phone, here are below Shop’NCook e-mail settings for some main providers. I have written when the settings have been confirmed by users. If you know other working settings or if you confirm some unconfirmed ones, leave a comment below. I will be updating the list regularly.

You enter the e-mail settings in the E-Mail tab of the Preferences. If you cannot find the correct settings for your configuration, try the solution proposed here that should work for everybody.

Important note: After modifying the e-mail settings, you must restart Shop’NCook before sending e-mails.

I can confirm the att settings work for those with email addresses ending in @sbcglobal.net

Awesome- I love having the checkboxes on the phone. It was a pain to export the list to clipboard and then paste in a memo and sync the phone. This is so much easier.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Mathilde says:

Thanks for confirming the settings for sbcglobal.net ! I have added them to the list.

  3. Rebecca says:

I cannot get this to work at all. Which email should it be sent from?
I have an iphone I have gmail. gmail is on my phone as the mail client. I think the problem is the mail in the from but I could be wrong. I want to send it to gmail, but it doesn’t take any of my other email address like hotmail I just keep getting an error message.

  4. Mathilde says:

    Rebecca,

You should inputting the gmail settings exactly as above. Use for both the “From” and “To” e-mail addresses your gmail address.

After doing that, RESTART Shop’NCook before trying to send e-mail, otherwise it may still use the previous SMTP settings.

I have comcast for email. Followed the above recommendations, using the above (unconfirmed) settings and the email address I received from verizon (my cell phone), but still isn’t working. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
    Barbara

Hi. I can’t get the hotmail setttings to work. Has anyone achieved success with hotmail?? I also can’t figure out how to get the grocery list to the app on my iphone. I need help, please!!!

  7. Mathilde says:

    Rachel,
I must still update the iPhone app, it is not yet able to download the shopping list from the the software, but it is coming very soon.

For sending with hotmail: if nothing else works, try the solution proposed here.

  8. JOHN MCDONALD says:

I have an Iphone 4. I have followed the above instructions to the letter and double checked them and still I cannot send to my phone. I get an error message each time.

Is there something else I should try?
    Thanks
    John

    • Mathilde says:

      John,
Can you send me an error report (select “Send Error Report” in the Help menu)? This way I can check where the problem is. You should perhaps check also that there isn’t a space at the end and the smtp server name. Several users who reported a similar problem had a trailing space…

  9. Rick Webb says:

I had to buy another computer and only downloaded your software from the website. I don’t have/didn’t purchase a disk. I do have my old drive that I have access to. What do I need to do to get the software on my new computer?

    Thanks.

    Rick

  10. Mathilde says:

    Rick,

Sorry for the late reply. I hope you have been able to fix your problem in between. Otherwise, you just need to download again the trial of Shop’NCook and input your registration number.

If you need to transfer your data too, copy the Shop’NCook data folder (for example folder “Shop’NCook Menu” in your Documents folder) in the corresponding location on your new computer before starting the software for the first time.

I am hoping someone can help me with my problem. I am unable to send a recipe through the program. I used the previous version for a for few months before the newest version came out, then I switched to the new version. I had no problem with the old version sending recipes, but have never been able with this version. I have checked and rechecked my gmail settings and feel certain they are correct.
I am using AVG virus program, but have checked and it is set to allow all access with ShopN Cook.
When I attempt to send an error report through the cookbook I get a message stating. There was an error sending report, please resend or send email to …
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate hearing them. I love the program, I just want to be able to send recipes through the email.
    Thank,
    Rose M.

      Rose,

Sending the error report may fail if the server was down when you tried. Please try to send again an e-mail (so that the error while sending e-mail is included in the error report) and then try to send again the error report.

One of the problem I am seeing often when sending e-mail is when you have added an extra space at the beginning or at the end of the smtp server. It can happen easily if you have copied and pasted the smtp server from a website for example. This extra space makes the e-mail sending fail.
