Amen to Ben.
The recipes on my iMac are the ones I want on my iPad - I don't care about the thousands in direct access - they are not the ones I use day after day. When I look at my iPad, I want to see the same cooking view as my desktop gives me.
Thanks

Mathilde,
I am looking for a program that will keep a working inventory of my pantry as well as recipe management and menu planning is your product able to do that ? Also would love to be able to use iPad to carry around instead of notebook to input info.
Thanks,
     Jason

Ben,

There is a new app coming out soon that will be closer to what you are looking for. Let me know if you would like to be contacted when the beta testing starts...

Thank you for the great suggestions about the reminders for the freezer and crock-pot.

Mathilde,

I've been looking for a cooking app for my iPad and still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for, yet Shop'N Cook seems to be the closest. See, I'm not a lover of cooking, but I still need to put food on the table and as such I have often struggled in the past with variety and simply deciding what to cook tonight. What I'm looking for is the ability to search *My recipes* not just based on ingredient, but prep/cook time as well. Having access to a bunch of others is nice, but my main object is to have access to a couple dozen favorites & be able to meal plan from that. Another nice to have would be the ability to schedule meals in advance & have that information trickle into other tasks like shopping lists, take the meat out of the freezer reminders, and remember to fire up the crock-pot this morning reminders.

Thanks,

Ben

Mathilde,

Great to see that you are working on an iPad application. I have tried all of the recipe management programs for the iPad and iPhone and none of them meet what I believe are the minimum requirements. Like you, I see the iPad as a compliment to a computer based recipe manager. Personally I don't need to have cookbooks with thousands of recipes from other sources on my iPad. What I do need is easy access to the recipes I've tried, liked and added to my recipe manager available in an easy to use and kitchen friendly format.

My basic requirements for a recipe manager on the iPad are as follows:

1. Able to sync with selected cookbooks from my computer recipe manager (Shop'NCook).

2. Able to search for a recipe by keywords.

3. Able to display the recipe ingredients in large type so that the iPad can sit in a stand on the counter while I organize items in preparation to begin cooking.

4. Able to display the recipe instructions one at a time in large type so that it is easy to read from a distance of a few feet.

5. Able to display the next instruction by either a simple swipe or better yet a simple voice command.

6. (Optional) Able to scale the recipe yield.

If I had an app that did these basic things then the iPad would be the perfect kitchen tool. When married to Shop'NCook you don't need to be able to do everything with the app, it only needs to be your screen away from your computer. Beyond these basic, bonus features would include menu planning, shopping list, and simple recipe editing and entry.

Thanks for taking the time to read this long response. I hope it is helpful in your design process.

I am a Shop'NCook Pro user for many years. Just downloaded your app and accessed my recipes on direct access with it. Very cool. A little slow but very very cool. Love it.
